"Escaping myself, released from all of the worries in life, I pose nude. I'm fine in my skin. Instead of being trapped by self-esteem, I experience complete satisfaction. I see myself being completely content. My body language indicates that I have found freedom." - Thea Jade
artist statement: fuggire visually explores the social and cultural challenges of a young woman freed from worldly constraints but bound by internal conflicts. Her nude female form is separated from the physical slavery devices - involving the visual cues of wood, ropes, walls, and clothes - yet it struggles with the emotions of fear and doubt against comfort and safety. The mixture of black-and-white symbolizes purity, in this case the raw nature of emotional conflict. In photography, it has been suggested that black-and-white is a means of greater authenticity than a wide range of colorized messages. The contrast of black-and-white can also mean a direct relationship with the darkness of doubt as opposed to the brilliance of freedom.
